Year 11: 1st Place Legal Studies
HSC Exam Mark: 97
I guide Legal Studies lessons according to student needs. However, I generally teach each section of Year 12 Legal Studies as follows:
- 'Crime topic' lessons mainly involve working through a set of comprehensive notes to ensure that students have adequate content knowledge and understanding of cases relevant to each syllabus dot point. I draw student attention to past paper questions and give my key effective strategy to answering the crime question. This strategy helps the student make relevant links between the syllabus "themes and challenges" section and the content.
- 'Human rights topic' lessons are based on content knowledge and effective methods of recalling information to correctly answer multiple choice and short answer. Cases/examples which can be applied to a range of short answer questions are taught which allow for better time management in exam conditions.
- 'Family topic' lessons AND 'Indigenous Peoples topic' lessons are based on incorporating content (legislation, cases, recent media, statistics and international documents) into essay plans for each section of the syllabus.
