As a secondary Music teacher for more than 10 years, I have found that my passion and commitment to teaching has only grown with every year. Even with the complexities of the current educational landscape, the satisfaction of getting through to a particular student who just was not “getting the hang of it,” or helping advanced students achieve their goals, never gets old. I have dedicated my career to helping students of all levels master a variety of music skills and concepts they need to go on to college and everyday life beyond high school, and would love to continue that path.
Over my ten years of teaching, I have sought out and implemented the most current pedagogy and teaching methods including Positive Behaviour for Learning and Choice Theory. I regularly use custom lesson planning based on Independent Learning Plans and student capabilities to develop relevant curricula for students in order to maximize their engagement on complex concepts.
I have completed professional learning in a number of areas including:
. Driving Dispositions and Rigour in the Senior School.
. Evidence Informed Learning.
. Exploring Adaptive Expertise in Teaching and Learning Design.
. Mentoring for Adaptability.
