My planned Greek lessons are flexible in modifying and adapting aims, objectives and expectations according to the multilevel nature of classes as well as the individual needs and level of each student. My basic aim is to develop teaching/learning strategies in order to improve student engagement and achievement, therefore I run a variety of techniques and activities (art: cultural-historical documentaries in Greek language or English that combine listening, comprehension, discussion and oral interaction, text production. Furthermore, with my Advanced students last year we organised a theatrical performance of a Greek tragedy in Modern Greek language. As a result, I create connections between the Australian and Greek cultures, through poetry, drama and social topics. As a learning outcome the students gain the ability to make links, find similarities and differences between the Greek and English languages and cultures. Moreover, students feel safe to participate and I provide them opportunities to experiment and challenge themselves.
